I’m so excited to share with you a new resource

The past two days I have thrown my body down on th

The past two days I have thrown my body down on that sled, slid to the bottom of that hill, and climbed back up at least twenty times. I’m sore and tired but so incredibly happy. My kids and I have enjoyed this winter scene so much.
⁣
Realistically, it may be another 10 years before we receive snow like this, at which point (Lord willing) my son will be 25, my daughter 21, and myself nearly 56. Truly, this could be a once-in-a-lifetime memory making opportunity that I do not want to take for granted.
⁣
Lately, I’ve come to the realization that while I may not have much to offer the world, I have a whole lot to offer those God has entrusted to me. I want to do a good job of giving them the very best of myself. Today that meant physically taxing my body, tomorrow it may require giving of my emotions or intellect. One thing is certain, whatever is required of me, God will faithfully provide all that I need to accomplish it.

We woke this morning to -16 degrees outside. That

We woke this morning to -16 degrees outside. That was definitely a new record low for our area of Arkansas. The extreme weather has left our small town of around 5700 without any natural gas service. This has put our furnace, hot water heater, oven, and stove out of service. We’ve improvised by closing off most of our rooms, made dinner by microwave, and cranked up all of the electric space heaters. Truly I’m so thankful for electricity right now and friends who have loaned heaters and even offered a place for us to stay should we need it.

We’re praying tonight for the rest of our community and especially the employees of the gas company who will be working nonstop to help us.

Made a bit of progress on my 2021 quilt project th

Made a bit of progress on my 2021 quilt project this morning before my kids woke. Looking forward to the day this sweet little labor of love will be used to keep the ones I love cozy and warm on cold winter mornings like this one.

I purchased these very sick African Violets from W

I purchased these very sick African Violets from Walmart for less than $2 each a few weeks ago for us to use with our February nature study. They are frail and the purple one has lost most of its petals, but the touches of green that remain may be just what we need to make it through these dark, dreary, midwinter days. Some day I hope to plant a row of evergreens in our back yard to add some green during the winter. Until then, store bought plants and flowers every now and then will have to do. 🪴

Cooper is the perfect winter morning snuggle partn

Cooper is the perfect winter morning snuggle partner if you only require 10 seconds of snuggling. Yet somehow she’s still the most adored cat we’ve ever owned. Personally, I have a weak spot for the sweet girl holding her. ❤️

We are about halfway through our reading of Little

We are about halfway through our reading of Little Women and are truly enjoying each and every chapter. This week we read of Jo’s kitchen catastrophe’s that she felt certain would be redeemed when she served a dessert of strawberries and cream. Unfortunately for her, it ended horribly with salty strawberries and rancid cream.

I am learning so much from Marmee as I re-read this story from the perspective of a mother rather than as a young girl. There is a lot of wisdom to be gleaned from this book, especially this little nugget about everyday chores and responsibilities.

Today, inspired by Jo, we will be enjoying a delicious serving of strawberries and cream while simultaneously heeding the wisdom of Marmee and tackling the laundry and completing other chores....thankful that there is good to be found in both.

He flashed a smile just like this one at me this morning as I was headed out the door to run an errand. I’m so glad that he still smiles and enjoys my company at 15, because I really love and enjoy him, too.
