Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strai

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heav’nly song.

Have you ever truly stopped to consider why Jesus would have the first declaration of His birth given to shepherds? This month our family, and many of you, are focusing on this question. Why was such an important announcement made to shepherds, keeping watch over their flocks by night?
⁣
Scripture refers to Jesus as both The Good Shepherd and as The Lamb of God. These are roles he was familiar with.

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7) Just as God had planned, before the foundation of the world, the Shepherd became the submissive Lamb and laid down His life for the sheep (John 10:11) by became a lamb Himself.
⁣
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ (Revelation 7:17) I am the Good Shepherd. The good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (John 10:11)

I hope that as you ponder the good news of Christ’s birth this month that you will also be overwhelmed by the depth of His love for you.

My hope and prayer is that these morning time bundles be building blocks for your family: academically, creatively, and spiritually. What a humbling experience it is for them to be invited into your homes this Christmas.

Cleaning up and tucking in for the night is so much more enjoyable when the kitchen smells of baked oranges and has the glow of twinkle lights. 🍊🍊🍊

First Sunday ✨Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living HOPE through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. ✨

Our last batch of pumpkin swirl bread for a while.

Our last batch of pumpkin swirl bread for a while. We have really enjoyed this recipe that was included in the November bundle, but it’s time to move on. Otherwise, our waistlines will be bulging before we enjoy a single Christmas cookie.

She dressed up the table for our Thanksgiving dinner with my mom and dad while I prepped the turkey and waited for our dinner rolls to rise. I can’t think of anything I could be more grateful for than a warm home full of healthy and happy people I love so dearly. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!🌾

Such a full day...lots of baking, some last minute grocery shopping, and the kids and I took a break mid morning to play a board game. Any guesses as to what else received a lot of our attention today?

We have so much to be grateful for.

Spent the entire day painting and rearranging this

Spent the entire day painting and rearranging this room. We tucked away most of the stuffed animals, leaving only the favorites....slowly the bedrooms in this house are starting to look a little more grown up.
⁣
I also pulled out a few resources we will be enjoying next month from @thedailygraceco. My husband and I are going to use the Hymns for Advent Devotionals and as a family we will use these advent cards on Sunday evenings. I’m excited to learn more about the traditional hymns we sing this time of year and how their words tie into scripture.

Here is an excerpt from the portion on Angels We Have Heard on High, our December music study. “And here we are, reading of these shepherds thousands of years later - this instant recorded for us to read over and over. But let us not lose the magnitude of the moment recorded for us. God chose to reveal His glorious plan - the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord - to these ordinary men. And the same truth has been revealed to us....He has come and our appropriate response is to adore Him.
