“…the Lake of Shining Waters was blue – blue – blue; not the changeful blue of spring, nor the pale azure of summer, but a clear, steadfast, serene blue, as if the water were past all modes and tenses of emotion and had settled down to a tranquility unbroken by fickle dreams. – Anne of the Island

When I read this quote in context with our Morning Time study, I love to equate that blue water that had settled so peacefully and tranquilly to us when we a resting in God’s love and protection.
⠀⠀
As you get ready to begin week 2 of this morning time study I thought I would remind you of these verses that accompany our study this month!

John 4:13-14 -“Jesus answered and said unto her, “Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
⠀⠀
Psalm 90:14 – “Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”

Spending a dreary summer afternoon planning next years curriculum and dreaming of the new school year that awaits us.

I’m just so incredibly grateful that I get to spend my days with these two. My son will be entering his first year of high school and I couldn’t be more excited! I still have, at the very least, 4 more years with him at home and we are determined to make them the very best!

This month has been long, we are wrapping up the 16th week of unemployment for my husband with no word from his employer as to when they will call him back. The uncertainties we face are big and unnerving as the anchors that have held us for the past few months are being lifted and we do not know where the current will lead us.
⠀⠀
I know I have let my Instagram take the back seat over the past few months. I’ve tried to compose posts that are encouraging to homeschool families and be as present as I possibly can in this space, but my mind just draws endless blanks.
⠀⠀
I read these words from Elisabeth Elliot yesterday. I’m praying them for myself and many of you who I know are also walking through a period of uncertainty. “We are women, and my plea is let me be a woman, holy through and through, asking for nothing but what God wants to give me, receiving with both hands and with all my heart whatever that is.”

We decided to pack the Jeep and take a road trip to Illinois for a week long visit with family. I’m so grateful for this place we can retreat to. When everything else around us seems to be screaming for our attention there is nothing more wonderful than the sounds of bull frogs and crickets. I’d take this noise any day.

Tonight we celebrated my dads retirement. He was with the same company and worked in the same building for 40 years. Honestly, it is hard for me to even fathom that, but one thing I can fathom is what a testament it is to his character. He is steady and faithful.
⠀⠀
I’m sure there were days he didn’t want to show up. In forty years there had to be coworkers that were hard to get along with or seasons that he wanted a change of scenery. His time there was marked with highs and lows, yet he continued on: steady and strong.
⠀⠀
I don’t know how to teach those things to my children except to say: “Learn from those who have gone before you.” What a privilege it is for myself and them to have someone who set such a great example.
