Post 1 of 2: an introduction.

I thought before introducing this months morning time bundle that it would be fun to re-introduce to you my heart behind the morning time bundles. These little excerpts are taken from the about page on my blog. Written over 2 years ago, they still apply to what I desire for you and for myself.

May God receive all the glory!

***Moments that nurture and gather: that is the heart behind Fresh Wanderings. My desire for anything I publish here, be it a morning time bundle, a blog post, or a product offered in my shop, really culminates to these two things: does it help me see the beauty in simple day-to-day living and does it encourage you to do the same?

This world is loud. It bombards us every single day with ugliness and sin, making it is easy to become disheartened when we look at it through the lease of humanity. But as mothers, trying to raise and rear children who love, honor, and serve God, we want more for our children and for ourselves. We want to see the beauty that is still there for us to enjoy.

Jesus encouraged His disciples with these words:

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Our focus should always be one that points our family toward Jesus. We should keep our eyes steadily fixed on Him.

The apostle Paul encouraged early church believers to do this, as well.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” – Philippians 4:8

Peace will be with you; what sweet encouragement that is for the wife, mother, educator, and friend who chooses to think on these things. Happy May, sweet friends!

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” -Matthew 6: 25-26

Sometimes the crafts we make with our children become more than just crafts. They become physical reminders that God knows our needs and will provide them. Our job is to not run ahead of him in the process. I hope some day when the crafting table or the kitchen table only includes you that you look back at all the moments you nurtured in your home and see them as mile markers to Gods goodness, for truly, that’s what they are!

We began reading The Hiding Place this week during

We began reading The Hiding Place this week during our read aloud time. There are so many wonderful things to take away from each chapter, but none so comforting as the refuge and shelter we find in remaining tethered to our Rock and our Hiding Place.

As you read the story of Corrie ten Boom’s life you find that daily scripture reading, both morning and night, were part of their families daily rhythm. Like clockwork, the Bible was opened and God’s truth was poured into all who entered their home. God’s word changed them from the inside out and was the foundation that helped them persevere under the most horrible circumstances.

Don’t ever discount the moments spent in God’s word, no matter how big or small. You are strengthening spiritual muscles little-by-little and who knows that they won’t be used in big ways some day.
