Tonight we are celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary with a good old-fashioned helping of corn on the cob - our catalpa tree is in full bloom and the honeysuckle in our backyard smells incredible - the kids both have sunburns from playing with the neighbors - and today we received some good news we’ve waiting a long time to hear

Not necessarily a fancy anniversary date; just simple little pleasures of the best kind. The ones that follow one another softly, like pearls slipping off of a string.

I always feel a bit awkward at the beginning of the month because it feels like I’m inundating you with Morning Time posts and pictures. This is just a necessary part of the process of creating and sharing: one I’m learning to embrace.

Regardless of whether you use the monthly morning time bundles or not, I do hope that by being here you feel encouraged, supported, and uplifted. I hope that, when it is all said and done, that my presence here reminds you that you are loved and that what you do as a homemaker, mother, wife, and friend is important.

Why is a recipe included in each months morning time bundle? Because I truly believe that with our hands we can show love to those around us. Simple things, made with thought and intention help create the moments that nurture (emotionally, spiritually, and physically) those we love. My hope is that as you physically nurture and serve those around you, it invites conversation, sparks laughter, and brings joy to your home and lives.

Every little moment counts. I am reminded of this in this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.”

Couldn’t stand seeing all of the peonies laid ov

Couldn’t stand seeing all of the peonies laid over on the ground, so I had to bring some in. Their beauty is definitely appreciated more here than outside on dark rainy days like today.

They say that Instagram rewards those who are cons

They say that Instagram rewards those who are consistent. To be seen regularly you must show up regularly: in posts, in stories, with reels, etc. People should tag you, share you, comment on your post, and a whole plethora of other things. I love being here, but quite honestly, it’s a little overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to navigate life -even more difficult when life deals some hard blows.

While I’ve been quite here, breaking all of the IG rules, we have been saturated in life. Tomorrow morning we will finish our reading of the Hiding Place. Between it and some sermons on the life of Joseph that I have immersed myself in the past few weeks here are some truths I have learned. They have given me an overwhelming sense of peace as we navigate some tough times. I hope they do you as well.

🗝When we shun trials, we miss blessings.

🗝There is no ideal place except the one in which God sets you down. In this place you are protected:
•not from, but in, the circumstances
•by His presence (Psalm 9:9-10, Psalm 27:4-5, Psalm 46:1, Psalm 138:7, Exodus 33:12-17, Matthew 28:20)
•from certain things (the silent killers: resentment, self-pity, and bitterness)
•for a unique purpose

🗝 If we seek to avoid the inevitable tests of faith we will never enjoy its unspeakable compensations.

🗝 If we view our future only through the present, rather than view our future through the perspective of God, our future will look very different than that which God desires for us.

This book has been truly eye-opening for our family. We’ve leaned so much about love - mainly that to love in the face of hate and persecution is a powerful thing, but truly can only be accomplished with the power of the Holy Spirit living and dwelling in us. I’m so glad we’ve lingered over it slowly.
