There is something especially beautiful about late summer time mornings. The days are still warm and full, but there is also a shift beginning to happen — a gentle return to rhythm, to familiar routines, and to the small practices that help anchor our homes. August often feels like an invitation to gather again around the table with fresh intention, even while summer lingers on.
This August Morning Time bundle was created to help families ease into those rhythms slowly and meaningfully. Throughout the month, we’ll spend time enjoying poetry that celebrates the sweetness of summer days, listening to the music of Jean Sibelius, revisiting the work of Winslow Homer, and continuing our study of the character qualities of God together. Each piece was chosen to bring beauty, depth, and quiet consistency into your homeschool days.
Morning Time has become one of the simplest ways to cultivate connection and shared learning in our home. It gives us space to read beautiful words, study truth, notice the world around us, and enjoy meaningful subjects together without rushing. If you are new to this practice, you may enjoy exploring the Morning Time Library for additional seasonal bundles, resources, and ideas.
This month’s studies also pair beautifully with gentle home rhythms and intentional planning. If you are looking for simple ways to bring more peace and consistency to your days, the Gentle Weekly Rhythm Planner can help you create sustainable rhythms for your home and homeschool.
Whether you use this August Morning Time bundle exactly as written or simply allow it to inspire your own family learning, I hope it helps fill your days with beauty, wonder, and quiet moments together.

Thank you so much for the honor of preparing these bundles and inviting me to be part of your morning time. It brings me so much joy. I hope it does you, as well.

POETRY FOR LATE SUMMER
Fair was the blue sky overhead,
Fair was the earth below;
Soft as an infant’s breath, the wind
Went wandering to and fro.
The creeping grasses clad the earth
In garniture of green;
A summer day more fair more sweet,
The earth has never seen.
Yet something still it seemed to lack
To satisfy my heart;
Lovely, but lifeless as a thing
Created by some art.
But lo – I heard a gush of song,
The whirring of a wing,
And into happy, joyous life
The whole world seemed to spring.

SIMPLE SEWING CRAFT
Our morning time craft for August instructs the learner in how to sew a cloth napkin or tea towel. For my linen napkin project I used previously dyed linen from the August 2020 Morning Time Bundle. If you would like to dye your own fabric, the August 2020 bundle was beautiful and would pair well with this month’s. You can purchase it here: A Simple Guide to Morning Time | August 2020

A LATE SUMMER RECIPE
I was tempted to wait until it was officially fall to include these blondies in our morning time bundle, but they’re so delicious I couldn’t wait. This dessert would be perfect for a rainy summer afternoon spent indoors….or a hot summer day would work as well. They’re delicious and I’m pretty sure delicious has no specific temperature requirements.
SCHEDULE
The morning time bundle also includes a guide to help aid you in the implementation of this study. It includes 4 weeks of a suggested learning rotation that will help you cover all of the topics included over the course of the month. This is simply a guide. You can add to or take from it as you wish and as your learning leads you.
Please note: Some external links and resources shared in these older morning time studies may change over time. When possible, I update broken links, but if a resource is no longer available, I encourage you to simply use the topic, artist, poem, or composer as inspiration for your own exploration.

I hope that these bundles bless your family time together and that ultimately they draw you closer to Christ who loves you so dearly. Wishing you a beautiful late summer season together.
