This delicious brownie recipe with white chocolate (known to many as a blondie) was included in the August 2021 Morning Time Bundle and is so delicious I wanted it included here, too. Making special recipes each month has shown me that some of them deserve a “special feature” and a dedicated time to shine; this is most certainly one of them. The maple flavors in this recipe make it a perfect autumn treat, and even though it isn’t fall yet, our current temperatures, humidity, and the daily package deliveries of new school books definitely have us longing for it. It feels like an appropriate time to make something cozy and delicious.

- 3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Maple Syrup (optional)
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tsp Maple Extract (optional)
- 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Pecans (optional)
- 4 oz White Chocolate Chips
For the Glaze
- 1.5 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Maple Syrup
- 3.5 Tbsp. Heavy Cream
Instructions
Preparing the Brownies
-
Preheat an oven to 350*
-
Line a 9" X 9" pan with parchment paper and set aside.
-
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar. Add the maple syrup, egg, vanilla and maple extract and mix well.
-
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold together until there are no clumps of flour remaining. Fold in the pecans and white chocolate chips.
-
Pour the batter into your prepared pan and spread into an even layer.
-
Bake for 30 minutes or until the brownies are golden brown or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Be sure not to overbake.
-
Set aside to cool completely before glazing.
Preparing the Glaze
-
While the brownies cool, make a glaze by combining the powdered sugar, maple syrup, heavy cream, and salt in a small mixing bowl. Use a whisk to mix until it is creamy and no lumps of sugar remain.
-
Pour the glaze over the cooled brownies and spread evenly. Allow the glaze to harden before cutting
One of the things I appreciate about this recipe is its maple sweet richness. These brownies will satisfy your desire for something sweet yet are rich enough to keep you from eating too many. I appreciate this for so many reasons, but, first and foremost, for its ability to keep me in check. In our home, desserts are often made and devoured within a day. These brownies always hang around a bit longer making sure every bite is enjoyed to its fullest.
I hope you love these as much as we do and would love to know if you tried them. Tag me @fresh.wanderings on Instagram if you do.
